Therese got a terrific break in NORFOLK ISLAND
We flew out of Newcastle on Norfolk Air,had a weeks accomodation near the town centre with a car for $740pp....very good place to rest up.

The old buildings are used for parliment 9 the island is self funding) as well as for museums



Therese visits the communications building to make a call...


Good coffee is grown there...and the coffee shops are very adequate...even give a good short black

Norfilk Island

They have the same problems with rubbish...they burn what they can and dump it in the ocean. Old cars not running are plenty on the properties...It costs $200 to dump em...the feral chooks live in some

Emille Bay is "Perfect" coral reef shelters the very clean beach ...crystal clear water...and a nice swim to the pontoon....very very nice


Local picture theatre...friday and Sat nights..Kids show in the arvo,adults at 7pm

They have a landing point on both sides of the island...depending on the weather


they watch the waves...blast in and hook on...

you use your car/ute to raise the boat up...

push the trailer under it...and lower the boat...easy stuff...NOT ...the waves a big at times

Norfolk Island...very green...no unemployement, many people have 2 and 3 jobs to keep the island going...casual work $15ph...tradesmen $45 ph


they strap these boats togethjer when they need to brig vehicles ashore...even buses etc

NORFOLK CRITTERTS

The locals pay $45 per head of the beef cows to graze them on the roads...they have right o way
Many of the cattle challenge to tourists to staring competitions...I won this round...she blinked, she protested but the original decision was up held


Man....this was going on everywher...


....Must be somethin in the water????

Norfolk at weeks end

We are standing in one of the old goal cell...5x6' was used for 3 prisioners...place has the usual VIOLENT energy of many of our historic sites

The fuel,gas and power costs plenty on Norfolk...22000 litre water tanks compusory and no air con I was told...there is a huge percentage of people own cars....much higher that here for a 8x5 mile island.The s/h cars that are imported through NZ from Japan

the airport has the flavour of Cairns


we bid ye farewell from the highest point of the island MT Pitt!!!
